Custom Diamond Engagement Rings

Marilyn Monroe once sang that diamonds are a girl’s best friend. Here at Jewelry Designs, we believe that diamonds can be everyone’s best friend. We create custom diamond engagement rings regularly; and while we’re committed to helping you find the perfect piece for you, we also want to help educate on what makes diamonds so special – and how to choose the perfect one when you’re customizing your engagement ring. The best way to decide on diamonds is to go through the checklist that is “the four Cs.”

According to the Gemological Institute of America, “the four Cs” of diamond quality is the universal standard for judging the quality of a diamond, the “Cs” being cut, clarity, color, and carat weight. Today we’re focusing on the carat.

Carat is just a fancy term for how much a diamond weighs: a metric carat is 200 milligrams, and each carat can be divided to a hundredth of a ‘point’ for the most accurate measurement. For example, you may hear diamonds being referred to as “a twenty-pointer” which just means it’s .20 carats.
The price of a diamond typically increases with the carat weight, which makes sense because bigger diamonds are more rare and sought after. Keep in mind, however, that there are three other factors that go into a diamond’s price – so it’s important to talk with a diamond expert to find the stone that’s right for you.

We have decades of experience creating diamond engagement rings customized to your wants; just like the ring you see here. This project began with our 3D designers creating a rendering of the ring to make sure that each diamond fits perfectly around the piece. Once that’s done, the ring is casted in platinum and sent to our master jewelers for cleaning and setting. This specific ring had thirty smaller diamonds around it, and the centerpiece is a magnificent three carat diamond, placed with the utmost care.

After being set, all that’s left is some gentle polishing and cleaning up to make sure the ring is as pristine as the diamonds that shine within it. Then it’s off to inspection where it passes with flying colors before being given to the customer – who was thrilled to have such a special piece to symbolize their love with their partner.
